The Russian navy has declassified its records of encounters with unidentified flying objects, popularly known as UFO's, which indicate that extraterrestrial intelligences like to stick to oceans while visiting Earth.
According to a report in Russia Today, the records, dating back to soviet times, were compiled by a special navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships.
The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters.
The materials are of great value, according to Vladimir Azhazha, former navy officer and a famous Russian UFO researcher.
"Fifty percent of UFO encounters are connected with oceans. Fifteen more - with lakes. So, UFOs tend to stick to the water," he said.
On one occasion, a nuclear submarine, which was on a combat mission in the Pacific Ocean, detected six unknown objects.
After the crew failed to leave behind their pursuers by maneuvering, the captain ordered to surface. The objects followed suit, took to the air, and flew away.
According to Navy intelligence veteran, Captain 1st rank Igor Barklay, "Ocean UFOs often show up wherever our or NATO's fleets concentrate. Near Bahamas, Bermudas, Puerto Rico. Another place where people often report UFO encounters is Russia's Lake Baikal, the deepest fresh water body in the world.

My girlfriend, her two daughters ages 18 and 7 and myself, had just gotten back I'm the road after pulling over momentarily to shelter ourselves during a very violent thunderstorm. At first I thought that it was a spotlight of some sort, either from a plane or a helicopter. But then I realized that I was unable to see any sort of craft associated with this light. Not to mention that the light was very stable, almost as if it were affixed to a pole or something. So I pointed out the window and told everyone to look! At that time everyone just looked and remained silent for about 5 seconds. Then my girlfriend said maybe it's an airplane or a stadium light, I then replied if so where is the airplane and since when do they have stadium lights that are posted 3,000 feet in the air? As we pondered additional reasons for this phenomenon, we then found the treeline extending high enough to temporarily block our view of the light for maybe 2-4 seconds. After passing that brief portion of extended treeline, the light was no longer there, we looked in every direction possible from our vantage point. It was simply gone. The next thing I did notice however was some sort of small airplane which appeared to be making very abrupt and exaggerated maneuvers, I do not know if this is because of the light or due to the weather, but I can't help but think that perhaps the two incidences are related.

(I know, some co-workers and acquaintances think I'm not as smart as they thought I was, once they find I'm "into" UFOs. Surely someone intelligent wouldn't waste their time...) Some think that having a degree gives a little bit of legitimacy to an illegitimate field. But there's no need. No need to lie about your background, whatever it is. As long as you're using your head, are truthful and honest and following your own voice, you can't go wrong. Despite what some others might say to you about that, the research and the work will stand on its own. And that's all you need.

The files also contain first-hand testimony of retired RAF fighter controller Freddie Wimbledon and retired MoD official Ralph Noyes, on the famous 1956 UFO incident at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
Mr Wimbledon remembers the RAF scrambling fighter planes to intercept a UFO seen on radar and by observers on the ground. The UFO reportedly latched onto to a fighter plane, "following its every move" before speeding off at "terrific speed".
